I know Peugeot have used VGTs, but is the 306 HDi on of the cars that has one, or is it a turbo with an actuated wastegate?

Cheers!

Nick

Cheers Tim, do you know if the actuator is controlled directly by th ECU, or does the ECU control a solenoid which bleeds off pressure to a low pressure actuator?

im not to sure in all honesty and i expect you know more than me as it is lol but im gunna try and help.... here goes. as far as i understand the turbo is run off a wastegate with a fisicle actuator arm its very basic when pressure is reached thats set on the actuator arm the turbo pressure is released. what i ment by the ecu knows the boost is that when your driving at a certain speed the ecu knows how much fuel and how much boost it should be running as its in the map itself but i don't think it has a sensor attached to it to make it "dump" boost when you release or anything like that.

I seem to remember reading the basic map is preset for x boost; the map cannot control the boost. Adjusting the wastegate without adjusting the map will yield no performance benefit.
I do also recall ppl whacking GT22s on them and controlling the boost *somehow*

The boost is just controlled with a normal mecanical wastegate...the ecu has no control over it at all, it can see the boost, but not control it, just fit a MBC

Cheers, Darren :) Typical basic set up then. MBC will be on the list once I've sorted my pesky fuel delivery problem...
What sort of boost do they run as standard, and what's the limit fo the stock fueling system and map?
