i was just wondering if anyone can tell me if there is a major difference, between the t2 off a gt turbo and the 306?? would these be compatible or would the turbine and compressor have to be changed?
also, can anyone tell me if there is any difference in design i.e head and exhaust manifold fitting between ph1 and 2's 306's aswell as, are the a/r ratio's the same on the two?

T2 on pretty much all cars is the same as any other T2. aslong as its called just T2 its the same.

on a 306 there is 4 turbo's to have. the KKK, garret T2, garrett GT15, K03

KKK is the same as a T2 but they have a built in actuator.
T2 is a good turbo can run good boost but doesnt spool that fast, has a removable actuator.
GT15 is a fast spooling turbo but i think they cant run high boost. they are on a slightly diffrent manifold as they are off the HDi's
K03 is the newest of the turbos i dont know what there off but JAC (joe) will know, i think they are HDI and are afast spool aswell.

When you say KKK you mean KKK K14, the worst of the lot.

Largest (worst) to Smallest (best for a diesel)

KKK K14 (fitted to most phase 2s and late phase 1s)
Garret GT2 (fitted to phase 1s mainly) good turbo
GT15 (fitted to the HDI, and late phase 2s, 99> cant fit the HDI one though)
KKK K03 (same as above really, some of these and the gt15s were fitted to DTS too)

ok jorge what make the KKK a bad turbo? it spools at the same rate as a T2 it can boost just as much and does everything a T2 does.

Garrett snobs Rob wink.gif

I never had any trouble with either of my KKK's, the K14 or the K03, and often out ran bosch and garrett combos....

Yours is prob a gt15, my 99 dt is. Don't think the t2 made its way into the 306 this late on in production. Last of the 1.9dt's rolled off in 1999 irc.

yeah, they seem to be better, faster smoother spooling with higher boost levels

as for differences, the T2 and GT15 are nigh on identical bar the identification plate

Mine is dying epically.

With wastegate fully closed it manages 15psi for a brief moment then stops at 3000rpm and the car smokes like a bastard.
When the car's cruising it's giving -1psi (going backwards!).

No leaks anywhere.
