How on earth did anyone at pug expect this "S16" to appeal to pug fans let alone hot hatch fans? ffs my farts can do a better 0-60 than this piece of crap. Hang your heads in shame pug you've ruined hot hatches now go away and think about what youve done while looking through your back catalogue of hot hatches and crying cus you now suck.

 someone's taking the piss :P

The last 'proper' S16 seen in the UK was the hottest 306 in the range back in 1993. But whereas the 306 S16 (predecessor to the highly-respected GTI-6) was a proper 2.0-litre 155bhp hot hatch with lowered and stiffened suspension, this tenuous 207 is actually based on the distinctly lukewarm 207 Sport 1.6 VT

The rating on Pistonheads sums it up so well. Huge potential, wasted!

Doesn't the 207 range already include a GTi model though? 1600cc Mini Engine? 150hp?

Seems a bit daft in all honesty that they'd release an S16 version.

Peugeot are shit nowadays anyway, not one of the cars released after the 306 appeals to me.

Seconded, i'm a sucker for older shaped cars. The 306, especially P3, has the retro shape yet enough curves to not look out of place in a car park full of 58 plate cars! The newer pugs just look like bubble mobiles.

its not meant to be a range topper, its meant to be a cheap to run and insure sporty models for spotty teenagers that cant afford a gti and the insurance that comes with the gti badge, they're only IG7 and £120 a year tax.

very decent torque output from these, 160 Nm, more than most highly tuned TU engines, with the benefit of using a hell of a lot less fuel.
ZX16v, XU10J4RS upgrade, Pugracing braided brake lines, Koni Yellow dampers, Citroen C5 "Alloy" wheels, enlarged valve cutouts ready for cam upgrades...

oh dear, i had a feeling peugeot would do something stupid like this after a while. the ph quote does it complete justice:

Quote

this is about as close to a homologation special as - well, as the 207 GTi is to a 'proper' GTi

what peugeot have just done is completely devalued the 306 s16 and relegated it to being a second rate special edition, whereas the original was indeed the range topping 306 model until the gti arrived.

what hurts more is all the people who asked me if my s16 was a "sport 1.6", and now that's exactly what they have made it it to!

idiots.

to be honest John the S16 was devalued instantly when the gti6 came out :(

in the UK anyway, they were always called the S16 in France, so I get where you're coming from.

nothing wrong at all with the car, simply the badge they've chosen to give it, would have been better to call it a Rallye and delete all the options
